Round 10
This weeks report is proudly brought to us by Ian Fraser from Fraser & Ramsay Electrical Contractors.
Under 12
Fearons vs Chadstone
This week we travelled to Chadstone on a morning that threatened rain.
We had a full squad which meant trouble for Chaddie. With Moose taking on the coaching role, there would be no letting up in this game. The boys jumped out of the block strongly, scoring 5-2 and not letting up for the rest of the match. The end result was a solid 15-7 win for the boys. Cal was this weeks stand out player with a focus not yet seen. He was ably assisted by Gazza who was his early partner in attack, with Jye dominating through the middle and providing endless supply. Jacob was all over the ground, providing support at both end but also a strong link player. The rebound work from Brachen and Nathan was fantastic, repelling many forward attacks by the opposition. Lucas started to find the ball and will be a big bonus for us going forward. Chris again provided a solid attacking option, which was equaled by Lachlan who got better as the game went on. He was most unlucky to score a couple of last quarter goals. Dan, after being a great helper on the bench decided he wanted some game action and got involved with some great ground balls.
The point scorers for the week were cal 9-4, Gazza 2-3, Nathan 1-4, Jacob 0-1, Jye 1-4 & Chris 2-0.
This week we play Camberwell at home at the Greenwich. See everybody at 9.00am to assist with getting the ground set up.
Cities vs Foostcray
Round 10 action was from the Greenwich against a fired up Footscray team, inspired by their 100 game veteran Bayley.
For the first time this year we were jumped from the start, finding ourselves down 5-2 at quarter time, but we fort back, spurred on by a terrific Gourley ground ball to lead at half time by 1. The difference between the first and second quarter was that we had heaps of guys running up and down the field, rather than standing in the forward line and Jordy was making some big saves for us in the goals!
In the second half we just ran out of a bit of puff and ended up going down by 1 goal, 10-11. Despite that we had some really good efforts in the third and forth quarters, Jake was fantastic in the goals, Will held down the fort in the backline with Lewis and Alex as they do every week and Seany, Gill and Elliott did some great running through the midfield.
Unfortunately we loose Elliott for the rest of the season because he is heading to Canada to live for a while, have a great time Elliot and make sure you keep up to date with how we are going on the website.
Points went to, Shaun 4-2, Gill 4-1, Lewis 2-3, Elliot 0-1, Alex 0-1.
Next week we make the epic journey out to Eltham, lets meet at the clubrooms by 8.00am so that we can car pool out there!
See ya,
Tink & Pricey

Fearons vs Eltham
Eltham made the long drive to the Greenwich only to go home with the tail between the legs.
We had a solid 13-7 win on another nice morning. The team was coached by the three wise monkey’s, while I took on the umpiring responsibilities.
After an even start with the scores 2-2, our second and third quarters were the difference, scoring 5-2 and 4-0 to break the game open.
Jessie has made the decision to run in goals. He did an excellent job making a number of big saves. His troops in the backline were great support with Brechen, Jye and at times Chris & Lucas giving additional help. Gazza had a dominant game racking up points, with Cal providing great drive through the midfield. Lachlan picked up numerous ground balls. Lucas is finding his feet after a couple of games to understand what its all about. Dan was a big help on and off the field. Jacob played in all positions, adding great drive and acting as a link man. When forward Chris kept the scorers busy as did Jye with his assisting.
Points for the week where Gazza 5-4, Chris 2-0, Jacob 1-1, Callan 4-3 and Jye 0-3.
This week its our time to treck across town. We play out at Chadstone. I recommend we car pool, so let meet at the Fearon at say 8.20am, which means we will leave no later than 8.30am.
Cities vs MCC
Matt was away over the weekend. Thanks to Josh Robinson for assisting. The boys had a very big 21-1 win. By all reports there were strong performances from all the boys.
Points for the game were Lewis 7-1, Will 2-4, Shaun 6-2, Gil 3-3, Jordy 1-1, Brock 0-2, Eliot 0-2 & Alex 2-5.
The boys play Footscray this week at the Greenwich which promises to be another tough one. All be at the ground at 9.00am to help set up.
Cheers,
Tink

Fearons vs Bye
Last weekend we had the bye. I’m sure all the parents had a nice sleep in.
We are this week at home hosting Eltham. Look forward to seeing everybody at 9.00am
Cities v Surrey Park
Last week we played host to Surrey Park in what was set to be a tough test for the boys. It was always going to be a difficult task with Big Will, our captain from the previous two games away on camp, but Gazza answered the call and filled in because the Fearons had a bye.
We started well again, with Seany scoring two in the first quarter, he was provided with heaps of opportunities because of some great work on the groundballs by Alex, Lewis and Big Brocko. In the second quarter Surrey got a couple back on us but we managed to go to the half time break all level at 4-4. By half time Sean had 3 goals and Gill 1, but it was the efforts of the back line that where keeping us in the game, Lewis, Gazza and Alex where playing some really good defence and giving us plenty of run up the field. The second half was a tight tussle with our middies doing lots of running up and down the field. Jake played a really good game under an injury cloud and Elliot and Jordy did some good running up and down the field when they weren't in the attack line. Heading into the last quarter we trailed by one goal and the boys did their best but came up 2 short, loosing 10-8. It is our first lose for the season and we will be looking to make amends this weekend against MCC.
The goal scorers were, Sean 4-0, Gill 3-4, Gazza 1-1, Lewis 0-2.
This weekend we play against MCC at the Albert Ground (Mel Map, 58 A5) - Queens Road, Melbourne. We will need to meet at the club at 8.30 so that we can all make our way out there together.
Cheers,
Pricey & Tinka

Fearons vs Footscray
This week the undefeated Footscray came to play at the Greenwich. We put on another fabulous day for playing lax. Thanks to Mark (Moose) Quarrier for setting the ground up.
The Footscray team have been playing fantastic this year and have a couple of seasoned kids that play all game. Our boys played really well, going down 10-17, however we matched them in all quarters except the last. Brechen and Jessie in the back half for most of the game were continually being put under pressure, but as usual played terrific games. A little more assistance from our middies who were playing a little like down hill skiers might have helped. Lachlan again did a great job for us, jumping in the goal after Gazza at quarter time and made some great saves. Gazza went on to receive the man of the match sticker, after doing well in goals, then moving to attack as well as runs on the midfield. Jye was again our most consistent contributor playing all over the field. His best work was between the restraining lines. We may need him to start going forward more and provide additional score board pressure for the opposition. Jacob was used in all positions and again did a great job. Chris played his best game for the year. Dan had lots of fun running around, while Lucas our newest player started to get an idea of how the game is played. He collected a great groundball under pressure, which shows he is adjusting quickly to the game. Nathan played solidly as usual, showing good skills, solid passing and making great position. Cal was used all over the ground. He got a little frustrated this week, maybe something to do with knowing everything. He was a good contributor, but needs to keep his temperament in check. His Mum has given him the next game off.
The scorers for the round were Chris 3-2, Nathan 1-1, Jacob 1-1, Jye 0-1, Gazza 3-2 & Callan 2-2.
This week we have the bye. The cities play at the Greenwich, so we may all go down to support them and have a little training session. I’ll be there.
Cities v Altona
Matt has been busy with work this week. His report will be sent through when received.
The boy’s however had a strong win at Altona with the score being 19-2.
The scorers for the week were Will 3-2, Jake 1-1, Gil 5-6, Shaun 2-5, Brock 0-1, Jordan 1-1, Eliot 1-0, Lewis 1-1 & Alex 5-2.
This week the Cities play Surrey Park at the Greenwich. Get ready for a good game as the better SP side is now in this division. All the boys should try and get to the ground at 9.00am to help set up the field.
Cheers,
Tink

Round 6
This weeks report is proudly brought to us by one of our sponsors – Craig Robson from In Plumbing.
Under 16 vs Knox
We traveled out to the lovely Scoresby on Saturday morning to take on Knox. The whether was terrible and the ground wasn’t much better. We were desperate for a win to get the boys confidence up so Shea and I were hoping today was going to be the day.
In the 1st quarter the boys played so well. Our attack were playing for each other which is a great sign as coaches. We had Spencer, Shannon and Hussey in attack to start off the game and they didn’t disappoint. Between them they shot 6 goals in the 1st quarter and they were not scared to share the ball around with Louie O’Riordan scoring a great goal. The defense played really well led by Conor Turner who played goalie for the first half. The score at the first break was 7-1.
2nd quarter and we moved a couple of players around, we started creating space up the top for a midfielder to dodge which is what we have been practicing during training and it is really starting to look good. Everyone is having a go at dodging which will help with confidence during the season. Dave Hallatch scored a great goal and a 2nd goal by Louie made the score 9-2 at half time.
Once again we made some changes around the field at both ends in the 3rd. Dave Hallatch jumped in goals so Conor could have a run around and it wasn’t long before he scored his 1st goal of the game. Morris Goodwin was killing it on ground balls which was great to watch considering the ground condition. Spencer scored another 2 goals and Hussey also another 2. The defense kept Knox scoreless in the 3rd which was a great effort. At 3 quarter time the score was 14-2
4th qtr and we didn’t slow down at all. Everyone was getting a fair run and the boys finally had a smile on their face and seemed like they were enjoying their lacrosse. Jeremy scored a good goal with a dodge from behind, he must have been playing well because he dropped his stick and a player from Knox picked it up and threw it off the field which was quite amusing. Our first year player, first time captain Colin Mcdowell scored his first goal for the season. As a coach I love watching our new players step up and have a real good go and be rewarded by scoring a goal so well done to Colin. The back up Goalie Conor wasn’t finished yet as he scored his 2nd goal for the game.
The final score was 17-4 which was a great effort all over the field.
Morris kept picking up these hard ground balls all game which is awesome to watch so I am going to call him Ground Ball King for the week. Tyler ripped it up in the face-off and Dylan is starting to get confidence up on the field which is great to see.
Thanks to Shea for umpiring even though he is a coach and happy 26th birthday to him for last Saturday.
Stats:
Spencer Davis 5 goals and 5 assists. “Welcome back”
Shannon Carpenter 2 goals and 2 assist “Great overall effort”
Ben Hussey 3 goals 1 assist “Face off isn’t your position ha ha”
Louie O’Riordan 2 goals 1 assist “sorry about the forward line”
Colin McDowell 1 goal “Congratulations mate”
Conot Turner 2 goals “Excellent at both ends mate”
Jeremy Shacklock 1 goal “Great dodge from behind”
David Hallatch 1 goal “Thanks for playing goals and I love your attitude mate”
The coaches MVP was given to Spencer Davis who had a ripping game. He wasn’t selfish and shared the ball around and shot some great goals as well. Keep that up Spencer it was great to watch.
This week we are playing Melb High School who are sitting 10th on the ladder and haven’t won a game yet so hopefully we can carry on from last week and have another good win. After round 6 we are 4th on the ladder.
Make sure all the parents get down to watch the boys in action and hopefully the whether might be a bit better than last week.
Thanks,
Ash

Fearons vs Malvern: 8 - 10
What an unusual day.
There was this substance falling from the sky which they were calling rain. Probably the first wet day we have had playing for quite some time. Some of the boys were quite surprised that they even had cold hands etc. Even though the day was wet, the game was a real contest and played with good skill. There were some fantastic goals from both teams.
Our boys got out of the block early and lead 2-0 at ¼ time, however Malvern came out to play in the 2nd quarter to tie the game up at 5-5. After half time they outscored our boys 3-2 and 2-1.
The end result was a fair indication of the evenness of the two sides. We had a squad of 8 players (Nathan injured, Brechen in bali and Dan was crook.), with Lucas playing his first game for the club. It would have been quite an initiation, as this was the hardest game we had played (apart from the Cities). He did manage to work out the calls, lines etc and managed a couple of possessions.
The goalie work was again shared, with Cal and then Jessie making some great saves. Jessie in fact obtained a sick move sticker for some of the one on ones he pulled off. Jye played another great game, mostly driving across the back half, Jacob was very good on the forward line creating many opportunities. Gazza (Birthday boy) after a quiet start in goals, did a great job around the ground and then up forward, while Chris contributed strongly in attack also. Lachlan after a slowish start got into the game and started to pick up ground balls etc. Cal battled strongly in most position during the game and was a strong contributor.
The stats for the game were Jacob 2-3, Cal 2-1, Jye 1-1, Lachlan 0-1, Gazza 3-0, Chris 0-2.
Cities vs Chadstone
Round 6 action pitted us against a fired up Chadstone team on what could only be described as a shocker of a morning - if you were a Chadstone player. Not only did they have to travel all the way from Chadstone on a freezing, wet Melbourne morning, but we then beat them 14-5.
On a morning when most of us would have been happy to stay in bed we dragged ourselves to the Greenwich and the boys played some really good lacrosse, linking up well and stringing plenty of passes together. Chadstone caught us napping to score the opening goal of the game very early in the piece, from then on the boys re-grouped well to hold a 6-2 lead at quarter time. Seany Clark was on fire in the forward line, slamming home four in the first and was well supported by Alex and Elliot with one each. The second quarter was a tighter affair, as the rain continued to tumble we scored 3-1 which left us in a commanding position at half time. Jake played a massive role in goals in the first half holding Chaddy to just the three goals. The second half saw more of the same, plenty of good goals being scored, and good defence tight defence. Gill, Lewis and Will played key roles all over the field, Brock and Adam gave good defensive pressure and Jordy provided us all with plenty of laughs, ending up on his back in the mud on more than one occasion. The boys ran out the game really well to record our fifth straight win of the season.
Goal scorers were as follow; Sean 5-2, Elliot 3-1, Alex 2-2. Gill 2-1, Will 1-2, Lewis 1-, Adam 0-1.
Adam is heading overseas for the next eight weeks which is going to leave a bit of a hole in our midfield but all the boys hope he has an awesome time and can't wait to see him back in the team for the last bit of the season.
This weekend we play against Altona away, lets all meet up at Altona at 9.00am.
Any issues please let us know. See you all on the weekend or down the club for the results at 6.00pm.
Cheers,
Tinka & Matt

Round 5
This weeks report is proudly brought to by –Ben Watson, Real Estate Agent for Compton and Green, Williamstown.
Under 16 vs Footscray
Saturday we took on Footscray who were 4-0 and sitting 2nd on the ladder. Jai is away for 2 weeks, so it was up to Shea and myself to keep things under control. With Roper unable to play this week we needed someone to play in goals. Conner put his hand up which was awesome courage. Footscray’s goalie is really good so we were going to have to shoot well.
1st qtr was a real tight one. It was a hard contest all over the ground. We didn’t pay enough respect to the goalie and had plenty of shots but we weren’t getting the goals. Connor did great to stop a few in goals and Davis Dipietro got us on the scoreboard. Footscray scored 2 goals so at the first break it was 1-2.
2nd qtr was pretty much the same as the 1st qtr a great battle between two good teams. Penalties were our problem. We were playing a man down for almost half the game so far and that ran us down but the defense did a great job to only let 2 goals passed and a great goal by Shannon Carpenter made ½ time 2-4 Footscray’s way.
In the 3rd qtr Footscray jumped away scoring 4 goals. Again penalties hurt us but one thing that stood out was a fighting on ground balls it was great to see the boys working as a team and hunting in packs. Davis was the only scorer in the 3rd so the score was 3-8
4th qtr and we needed someone to step up and it was Ben Hussey who did just that. He scored 2 goals in the last qtr which were assisted by Spencer Davis but unfortunately Footscray didn’t let their guard down and they scored 2 goals.
The final siren rang and we lost 5-10. It was a great effort by the boys; I was proud of them for staying positive with one another and hunting for those ground balls.4 out of our 5 goals were assisted which means we are playing as a team and that’s great. So there were heaps of positives to take out of this game and Shea and I are happy with that.
Thanks to Dan for umpiring you did a great job. Thanks also to Tina who scored for us, much appreciated.
Also on behalf of Jai, Shea, Ash and the Under 16 Team, we would like to pass on our love and best wishes to Rose Ritchie who is recovering from illness. We look forward to seeing her back down the club soon.
Stats:
Davis finished the game with 2 goals and 4 minutes of penalties.
Shannon scored 1 goal.
Ben Hussey scored 2 goals
Spencer had 4 assists which is a great effort.
The coaches MVP went to Conner who played such a great game in goals. He had some awesome saves and really kept us in the game so Conner great job Shea and I are proud of you.
This week we are playing Knox @ Knox. Knox has had a couple of wins so it should be a good game.
Thanks,
Ash
Under 12
Fearons vs MCC
This week saw MCC make the trip across the bridge to the Greenwich to be treated to a fantastic morning. The only problem was they had to play our guys, with the boys winning 17-2.
We played with 8 players with Lachlan crook and Chris sunning himself somewhere in Asia. The result was a good one for us as the boys again showed continued improvement and played again as a unit. This is evident by the fact we had 16 of the 17 goals being assisted by a team mate. The boys again shared the Goalie duties around and were never really tested. The big improver for the week was Dan who racked up his most touches in a game, scooping balls all over the place, most times against players twice his size. Brechen was our usual brick wall down back, stopping countless fast breaks and forward movements by the opposition. Jye was all over the ground as usual, working both ends of the field. Gaz our scoring machine again had a day out and almost scored a couple of lefty goals. Jessie through the middle of the ground created plenty of link work as did Jacob, with both goes very keen to assist and bring others into the game. Nathan has taken a liking to scoring and again got on the board, as well as playing strongly through the backline. Cal had a great game, playing forward and then as a spring board from the back.
The scoring results were Gareth 8-1, Callan 3-3, Jessie 1-2, Jye 1-5, Nathan 2-3 & Jacob 2-2.
This week is our real test. We travel to Malvern who are a very good team. They have a lot of experienced kids and will make for a great game. Brechen is not available this week, taking over from Chris and travelling to warmer parts of the world. Chris is back and should ensure we have our 8 players.
Cities vs Bye
The Cities team had the bye.
This week’s games are :-
Fearon’s v Malvern at Malvern Town Hall. Meet at Fearon to leave at 8.30am. Please let me know if going straight out to Malvern.
Cities v Chadstone at Home at the Greenwich. Please meet at 9.00am to help set up the field.
Again any question please let us know. Look forward to catching up at the club for the reading of the results at 6.00pm.
Cheers,
Tink & Matt

Round 4
This weeks report is proudly brought to us by one of our sponsors – Doric Construction.
Under 16 vs Malvern
This week we played at the Greenwich again and we took on Malvern who were sitting on top of us on the ladder so we all knew it was going to be a great hit out.
The first quarter was a great contest, Malvern were winning the ball out of the centre but our boys were quick to get the turn over with some great defense by Shahn Beasley. The attack line was working well with the midfield and that paid off with Ben Hussey and Davis Dipietro scoring 1 goal each. The score was 2-2 at the first break.
2nd quarter and the battle was pretty much the same, the game was really close and awesome to watch. Davis scored his 2nd goal of the game and a great goal by Callan Johnston which made it all tied up at half time 4-4.
The game changed after half time with Malvern really picking up their skills and working well together to score 3 against us in the 3rd. David Hallatch kept up his good performance by scoring a great goal and another goal by Shannon Carpenter kept us in the game. At 3 quarter time the score was 6-7.
The last quarter was a great battle with both teams really trying hard to stay undefeated, but Willy were out scored 1-0 to go down to Malvern 6-8. Seth Roper played really well in goals and the defense gave it their all.
It was a great effort by the boys and if we can work on playing as a team for the whole 4 quarters we will be a huge chance to take out the premiership for 2008.
Stats:
Davis Dipietro 2goals
Ben Hussey 1 goal
Shannon Carpenter 1 goal
David Hallatch 1 goal 1 assist
Callan Johnston 1 goal
Spencer Davis 1 assist
Coaches MVP:
The Coaches MVP went to Shahn Beasley this week. He played a solid game in defense and we believe he has what it takes to become a strong defender for Williamstown in the future. Well done Shahn.
Special Thanks:
We would like to thank Jeremy and Tyler for playing in the Under 18 team on the weekend. I spoke with Josh Ardossi (Coach) and he said the boys played really well and Tyler scored a great goal in the 3rd quarter. Thanks to Jez and Tyler for helping out the club.
This week will be another great battle, taking on Footscray who are 4-0 and sitting 2nd on the ladder. We still have a lot of work to do as a team, so training is real important so make sure everyone gets down there. It should be a great game this week so make sure everyone gets down to watch. Also if parents can help out scoring during the week, please feel free to help us out it would be great.
Thanks,
Ash
Under 12
Fearons vs Moreland
This week saw the team venture out to Moreland with expectations of a solid win. Our expectations were correct as we came up against a new squad of kids new and learning the game. The result was a comprehensive 16-0 score, however the opposition played a lot better as the game went on and will no doubt be much improved when we tackle them again in Rd 15.
The boy’s again showed they are a real team with the ball being shared around to all players. Jessie the main person, who although did not score a goal had a couple of assists, which could have been many more. Jye again was all over the field, Brechan took the goalie job on for a couple of quarters and when on the field was terrific. Lachlan came back and after also going in goals, produced his best game ever with 3 goals. Shows what some wall ball practice can do. Cal was up and down the ground playing at both end. Gazza was again in great scoring form. Jacob and Nathan played at both ends and provided great link work through the middle. Dan played in a variety of positions, doing a great job for the team.
The scorers were Jye 3-4, Gazza 3-2, Jessie 0-3, Callan 3-4, Jacob 3-0, Lachlan 3-0, Nathan 0-2.
This week we host MCC at the Greenwich Reserve. Please try and get there at approx. 9.00am to assist with setting up the ground.
Cities vs Malvern
Round four action saw the Cities play host to Malvern’s 1st team in what shaped up to be a massive game. The boys found the going a little tough early and we found ourselves 2-1 down with Gil scoring the only goal for the quarter. Despite a slow start we found our feet in the second and third quarters, slamming on 9 goals to 4 as we headed to the last quarter with a 4 goal lead. We eventually ran out winners 10-8 and all the guys played really good lacrosse.
In the win Gill picked up 5-2, Sean 3-4, Elliot 0-1, Lewis 1-1, Adam 0-1, William 0-1, Jordan 1-0, Brock 3 ground balls and Alex a bunch of great saves.
This weekend the Cities have a bye, but the Fearon’s will be playing MCC at home on the Strand. Our next game is against Chadstone at home on the 17th of May.
If any parent/player has any queries etc please let us know. Don’t forget we read out the days results at 6.00pm in the clubrooms. All are most welcome and encouraged to come down for a hotdog or beverage.
Cheers,
Tink & Frogga

Round 3
Under 12
Fearons
After some mid week changes, Callan and Coach defected the Cities team to even out the numbers.
This week saw Surrey Park venture out to the Strand in what turned into a bit of a Lax lesson for them. We had a squad of 8, which combined as a team really well. The tough goalie job was shared in the ach of the quarters by Gazza, Callan, Jye and Chris. The job was made easy by the movement and support of the defence and middie line. The star of the week of Brechen who after hitting the post 3 times, scored his first goal. He was also fantastic around the ground picking up numerous ground balls and providing run from the back and middle of the ground. The Team Splatt were support in all positions and love passing the ball around, bringing the rest of the team into the game. In all they provided 12 assists which could have been much more. Nathan our other new member was stellar in defence and has a bit of an eye for the goals when he gets his chances. Gazza provided his normal all over the ground, assisting and driving hard at the goal performance. Chris also was every where, goalie, defence, middie and yes scoring goals as well. Cal was the new inclusion and after a high scoring first quarter went back to help out for the remainder of the game. In the end all the boys scored in our 20-2 win. Scorers were Callan 5-0, Nathan 2-1, Chris 1-1, Jessie 2-2, Jye 1-5, Jacob 2-5, Brechen 1-0 & Gareth 4-2.
This week we head out to Moreland, which is located at Clifton Park, Victoria St, Brunswick. We will all meet and car pool from the Fearon at approx 8.30am.
Cities
Matt’s email has been done for the week. He will also be providing his report on a weekly basis.
The results however was another comprehensive win over Moreland. Moreland’s team is a new bunch of kid’s who were no match for the experience of our boys, who ran out 20-2 winners. The scores looked like a great all round performance with all players scoring or assisting. Scoreres were Sean 3-2, Gil 1-3, Adam 2-0, Will 2-0, Lewis2-1, Jake 2-0, Jordan 3-0, Alex 4-2, Eliot 1-3 & Brock 0-1.
This week the boys are home to Malvern who have shown some very good results and will be a real challenge for our boys. Matt would love to see everyone down at the Greenwich at 9.00am to assist in setting up the ground.
If anybody has any queries at please do not hesitate to speak to either Matt or myself. Looking forward to seeing you all on the weekend, either at the game or at the club at 6.00pm for results.
Cheers,
